This qualification involves the self-directed development and achievement of hair reduction knowledge, to design and safely apply non-ionising radiation treatments employing intense pulsed light and laser technologies. Substantial breadth, depth and complexity involves the initiation, analysis, design, planning, execution and evaluation of technical and / or management functions in highly varied and /or highly specialised contexts
In this course, candidates make significant, high level, independent judgements in the consultation of clients, analysis of skin and hair characteristics, creation and assessment of intense pulsed light and hair reduction treatment plans, selection and application of the appropriate technology for a hair reduction treatment. Practical training compliments the theoretical knowledge attained in the hair reduction segment of a beauty salon or clinic, alternatively in other settings where cosmetic laser hair reduction services are conducted. Broad or specialised planning, design, operational, technical and/or management functions in highly varied and/or highly specialised contexts. It may include responsibility and broad-ranging accountability for the structure, management and output of the work of others and/or functions.
Entry requirements
To enrol in the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Hair Reduction, individuals will need to meet the following entry requirements:
• Diploma of Beauty Therapy or a relevant qualification at Diploma level or above in medical health including the study of human biology, anatomy and physiology; and
• Significant and relevant work experience as a beauty therapist with a primary focus on providing facial services, skin services and hair reduction services; or
• Evidence of significant and relevant vocational experience relating to the application of human biology, anatomy and physiology knowledge in their respective field.
